Welcome to Tierra Feliz!

Tierra Feliz, Spanish for “happy land,” is a fitting name for our neighborhood.

Our full acre lots and spacious ranch-style homes built in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s give us lots of elbow room. Dramatic views of Mummy Mountain and the McDowell Mountains and the natural wash that winds through the neighborhood make us feel like we’re out in the desert. But great schools, restaurants and shopping are within walking distance and we’re less than a half-hour drive from downtown Phoenix.

Those are the physical attributes of Tierra Feliz, but what really makes our neighborhood a happy place with a real sense of community are the people, our neighbors. Tierra Feliz is wonderfully varied, with young families, couples with teens heading off to college, single professionals and grandparents whose backyards are weekend magnets for several generations of family. A handful of folks are original owners and several second-generation neighbors now live in the homes they grew up in.

There’s lots of interaction among the neighbors, especially those who get out regularly for a walk or a bike ride. There’s always a remodeling project going on somewhere in the neighborhood which is a good excuse to stop for a visit and see how the work is progressing. Evenings bring neighbors together for a glass of wine and weekends usually mean a dinner party among several families. The last weekend in October brings pumpkin carving parties and Halloween means block parties and trick or treating. The holidays bring many of us together for the cookie exchange and the dessert party and a night of caroling.
